Transformation of the Day: Brittany lost 68 pounds with a healthy meal plan, exercise, and consistency. Losing two family members and a friend of the family to cancer gave her a wake-up call. She changed her lifestyle to ensure that she would be here to watch her children grow for years to come.

What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
Honestly, my motivation was fear. My fear centered on many things, but most important was the fear of not being here to watch my children grow.

In 2018, I decided to get consistent and be serious. I had just lost two family members and a friend of the family to cancer. So I thought to myself, “I don’t know what the future holds, but I want to be healthy enough to fight any battle that comes my way.”

How did you change your eating habits?
When I first started, I did a 10-day no meat diet. I would drink two smoothies (for breakfast and lunch), eat a small salad for lunch, have two snacks, and then eat dinner. When the ten days were up, I slowly began to add the meat back to my diet, but I completely cut out beef and pork.

I needed eating habits that I could commit to forever. This mindset helped get me to stay on track. Three years later, I’m still eating this way – 1 smoothie a day, two meals, and two snacks. (Depending on my workout for the day)

What did your workout routine consist of? How often did you work out?
I am currently on a split with my workout, lifting 3-4 days a week.

  • Monday-Full Body
  • Tuesday-Glutes
  • Wednesday-Upperbody
  • Thursday-Glutes
  • Friday-Rest
  • Saturday-Non-gym workouts, such as bike riding, pole, swimming, hiking, etc.
  • Sunday-Rest

What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 253 pounds, and my current weight is 185 pounds.

What is your height?
I’m 5’4″.

When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
I started my journey in 2018 by just changing the way I ate and doing minimal exercise. Eventually, I began to work out consistently, so all together, this ongoing transformation has taken about three years.

Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
No, weight loss surgery isn’t part of my journey.

What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
So far, the biggest lesson that I’ve learned is the scale does not matter. Visual progress does, the way you feel does, and the way your clothes fit does!

What advice do you have for women who want to lose weight?
Even when it seems like your actions are not working, they are! Adjust to the changes in your body, and don’t get caught up in fad diets because we want this transformation to be forever!

Lastly, on the days that you don’t have it in you to show up, show up anyway. Progress is more important than any single result!
